IT: Welcome to Derry Season 1 is a prequel series in the IT universe, directed by Andy Muschietti. The story takes place in Derry, Maine, where a group of children, including Lilly, Ronnie, and Will, are confronted with their deepest fears, embodied by the clown Pennywise. Their lives are changed by disappearing friends, gruesome visions, and a monstrous baby emerging from birth. Adults, including soldier Leroy Hanlon, police chief Dick Holleran, and General Shaw, dig into the town's dark past, with flashbacks to the 1930s and 1908. They discover skeletons, an underground source of evil, and cycles of violence. The children form an alliance against the creature, while a mob wreaks havoc and Pennywise launches a deadly attack on a school full of children with dead eyes. Chaos culminates in fog, fire, and an unleashed Pennywise. The main characters are Lilly (played by a young actress), Ronnie, and Leroy Hanlon. The series builds tension with horror, trauma, and a fragile hope for resistance.
