The American West in the 1860s. After meeting Danish immigrant Holger Olsen, Vivienne Le Coudy, a strong, free-spirited young woman, agrees to accompany him to Nevada to live with him. But when the Civil War breaks out, Olsen decides to enlist, leaving Vivienne on her own. She now has to contend with Rudolph Schiller, the corrupt mayor of the town, and Alfred Jeffries, a large landowner whose son is brutal and unpredictable.
