12. Unconditional capitulation
In the last desperate months of the war in Europe, old men and boys defend German cities while Hitler moves his imaginary armies.
At the Yalta Conference, the Allies are already kneading the new postwar Europe and drawing the lines of the Cold War. German capitulation is inevitable, and the country is divided. Japanese defenses at Iwo Jima and Okinawa intensify as the Allies increasingly encircle Japan. Harry S. Truman, president after Roosevelt's death, decides to use the most terrible weapon, and the Atomic Bomb falls on Hiroshima.
