Popis (anglicky):

The Grill is a busy restaurant in Times Square that serves thousands of guests on a typical Friday. Among the kitchen staff, dreams and despair alternate, as each person tries to pursue the elusive American dream. When money disappears from the cash register one day, suspicion falls on Pedro (Raúl Briones), a young Mexican cook. Pedro is embroiled in a stormy relationship with Julia (Rooney Mara), an American waitress who is struggling with her own obligations. When he hears that Julia is considering an abortion, Pedro's world collapses. The shocking revelations and constant work stress bring him to a boiling point, completely disrupting the tight choreography in the kitchen.

LA COCINA is an exciting social realist drama and a tribute to the invisible heroes in the kitchen. Mexican director Alonso Ruizpalacios masterfully brings the hustle and bustle of a New York kitchen to life while exposing the harsh realities faced by migrant workers. Starring Rooney Mara and Raúl Briones. La Cocina is based on Arnold Wesker's 1957 play The Kitchen and had its world premiere last spring at the Berlin Film Festival, where it received a warm welcome from the international press.
