Popis (anglicky):

L'Etranger (The Stranger) is a 2025 French drama film written and directed by Francois Ozon, adapting Albert Camus's 1942 existentialist novel. Set in 1938 colonial Algiers, it follows Meursault (Benjamin Voisin), a detached office worker who attends his mother's funeral without emotion, begins an affair with Marie (Rebecca Marder), and gets entangled with neighbor Raymond Sintes (Pierre Lottin). On a hot beach day, amid escalating tensions with Arab men, Meursault impulsively shoots and kills one, leading to a trial where his indifference becomes the focus. Shot in lush black-and-white by Manu Dacosse, Ozon's faithful yet modern take emphasizes colonial alienation, absurdity, and philosophical detachment, giving more depth to female and Algerian characters like Djamila. Main actors: Benjamin Voisin, Rebecca Marder, Pierre Lottin. Director: Francois Ozon.
