Popis (anglicky):

Gladiator is a 2000 historical epic set in ancient Rome, directed by Ridley Scott. It follows Maximus Decimus Meridius, a loyal Roman general who wins a decisive victory for Emperor Marcus Aurelius, only to be betrayed when the emperor’s ambitious son Commodus seizes the throne, murders his father, and orders Maximus and his family killed. Left for dead and enslaved, Maximus is forced to become a gladiator, rising through the arena ranks as he secretly plots revenge against Commodus and fights to restore honor and justice to Rome. The film combines large scale battles, brutal arena combat, and political intrigue with an emotional story of loss, loyalty, and moral integrity. Gladiator stars Russell Crowe as Maximus, Joaquin Phoenix as Commodus, and Connie Nielsen as Lucilla.
