The house is gradually being torn apart. Moaning cows fly through the air. It's raining tractors. A heavy gas tanker becomes a deadly projectile. All this is the work of an all-destructive force measuring one and a half kilometers in diameter. Every year, America is ravaged by some 500 tornadoes of varying sizes and destructive power, causing many deaths. One of the main reasons for this is that such whirlwinds can only be predicted at the very last moment. Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton shine as two scientists who are doing everything they can to increase the warning time. They want to place electronic measuring equipment in the heart of the tornado in order to study it better and predict its path.
